Introducing “Not Hopeless, But Dangerous” – a week-long workshop to equip artists with the tools to make art that bites back, created by Yishay Garbasz and WelshPixie
Starting Saturday the 18th of November, each day for seven days I’ll post a link to a lesson plan that will take us on a journey through creating art for change, and I’ll be engaging with our community of artists on fedi as we work through each lesson, using the #DangerousArt hashtag. If you are not on fedi you can follow along via the this link:
https://tutorial.yishay.com/ (this is a new subdomain that hosts free workshops and lectures. You can also find there the first module of the workshop series Self Defence for minorties that have to make a living in the art world)
We’ll be looking at examples of political art from around the world as we guide you through choosing your topic and creating your own work, and each day’s lesson will look at using concrete steps and tools like contrast and seriality to focus the message of your work, and on ways of creating and showing your work that are accessible both to make and to present.
We hope, whether it’s your first engaged artwork or you have an existing practice, that by the end of the workshop you’ll be equipped with the building blocks to go on your own journey of making dangerous art in a variety of media, using your skill and creativity to make art that challenges, that inspires, that rebels
Saturday the 18th November – clear your schedule, we’ve got work to do.
